We all got one coin that just makes us smile with glee. So, what is your favorite Cherrypick.. dealer, collector, auction, or circulation find. Gusp

Well, I cherrypicked a Wisconsin low leaf from circulation, but a better find was the 1988 Kennedy with a 180 degree rotated reverse die from a mint set.

my favorite find was last march. I purchased $100 face value of silver dimes for $550 from a couple that lives 10 miles from me . I was going through them got to the 3rd to the last and couldnt believe it 1942/1 Mercury dime in vf condition. I jumped up from the kitchen table saying wow and my wife was looking at me funny. she couldnt believe it either. the wife of the couple I bought them from told me she got them from her aunt that passed away and she took them to the coinstar machine that is at the local grocery store but it would not take them and her husband started looking at them to see why it wouldnt take them and realized they where silver. when they got home he seen my ad in the local paper for buying silver coins. the worst part was I lost my job about a month later with four kids and a wife I had to sell a lot of my nice coins. I sold the 42/1 to a good friend of mine for $600. I hated that but family comes first. sorry this is so long but wanted to share it.

I've related the story before. In the early 1960's while going to college I bought hundreds of silver dollars at face value, keeping about 20 of them, which I still have.

My favourite cherrypicks have come through auctions, usually because of poor pictures. My most recent is my favourite, an 1891-CC Morgan in an ancient anacs ms63 slab (the coin will end up in a ms64 holder) with the nicest toning I have ever seen for that date. I paid about 25% below bid. Image: 1891-ccobv1.jpg44.12 KB

A year ago I went to a coin shop in Daytona Beach, Fl and started going through their junk box. Found a nice 1909 Lincoln that had a bad spot near where the mint mark should be. I needed the coin because it was an upgrade for the one I had. So bought it for 10 cents and took it home and since it was not a bu coin, only vf, I cleaned it and, lo and behold, there was a "S" mint there, not very strong but still a nice filler. Didn't have the heart to go back and tell him.
