There are no more RPMs after 1989 for the Lincoln Cent.

I will have to go look up RMPs. But that is what it looks like to me. There is something there.

It could be some sort of scratch or die chip, or just discoloration from circulation, or a plating issue.

Before 1989, mintmarks were punched onto each individual die. After that, they are added to the master dies instead, which makes RPMs impossible. Even from the mid-70s onward it would be extremely improbably to have a D/S because San Francisco was only minting proofs and such, so there'd be no reason why a circulation die would get an "S".

Technically, a D/S would not be a repunched mintmark(RPM), it would be an over-mintmark(OMM) which tends to be much rarer than an RPM. However, that is all a moot point since it would be impossible for a 2010 cent to have either an RPM or OMM.

I do not know all the technical terms...I am just learning. All I know is that I saw what I thought was a D/S. From these post I am learning that can't be. You can't say there isn't anything there...even if it is a strategically place something

Unfortunately it is just a coincidence on where the die damage happened to be.

Hmm ,

Ive had one similar to this , and once I "Picked" at it with a thorn I was able to peel up the coating ..
That is , if its as I see it .. might be my eyes haha .. Seems like it has an edge you maybe able to creep under to peel up ? Not recommending you do it unless your willing to chuck it back lol ..

Just my thought .. your doing good learning tho RockTown .. Cant get anywhere without asking questions ..!

Keep'em coming .!
Best of luck -

You're looking at crud stuck to the coin. Repunched mintmarks and over mintkars are impossible after 1989.
