Well for some reason I currently have a fixation on bars. Thanks to some help from my good friend SH I was able to acquire this from Canada this week. I paid a little more then I would like but it is more rare so oh well. My precious lol The start of my bar collection. Edited by throwbackid 05/22/2012 1:48 pm

A 50! Nice! Next will be 100. :) Is there any 1 oz Engelhard with the ox logo in that box? You know, the one with maple leaf at the top.

My local dealer called me today. They got 2 20oz bull logo's in 2 JM 20oz in and a Kilo JM as well as few other old pours. Work was swamped today and closed at 5 sucks. But he grabbed them and will be bringing them over so I forsee some more silver coming in lol

Nice, TBK. There really is something exceptional about those old bars. As Hawk once said, if only they had a voice to speak. What a story they could tell.

What you talking about Willis? LOL, quit telling people my plan. There is no way I would paint these beauties.
This thing feels like a chunk in your hand. One of these days I hope I can get one made out of gold, now that would be a real sight .

So after drooling over those pics again, noticed its a mid 80's bull logo bar very rare indeed!

Only mid 80's? Wow. Would have guessed they were much older by the cast. Not my bailiwick, though. Guess Englehard didn't update their methods all the often over the years. Found a simple design and stuck with it. Are they still actually in business, I wonder?

Engelhard was bought by BASF in 2006. Keep in mind Engelhard was the redited with developing the first production catalytic converter. Just like Johnson matthey these companies did alot more than pour bars.
Id date TBK 50oz bar around 1984, if the bar had a serial in the top right corner than I'd say 79-80. Engelhard did a lot of designs and a lot of different pours variations. Just like Johnson matthey. Its hard to pin point exact dates. But in general the Bull logo poured bars are the ones to get engelhard wise.

I had no idea of its age, just really like the old pour style bars. I think after rewards are factored in I paid around $1,600 which I can live with.
I have another 20 oz bull logo coming but I'm gonna start to save up for the 100 oz chunk.
If anyone has a 100 bull logo Engelhard I would be willing to trade SAE's or ML's for it.
Thanks for the comments I do appreciate them all.

Hey TBK,
Make sure to keep your eyes peeled as there is a 2,3,4,5oz 16.3oz half kilo Bull logo poured bars. no 1oz bull logo poured but a few bull logo 1oz pressed bars were made in 1981.
I really need to update my engelhard collection.

I plan to specifically hunt for these guys more so then most other forms of silver from now on, as I too am a big fan. Even though I have scored 2 of the 20 ox bars an one 10 and past them on to TBK, I will find an add more....
I notice better deals as most often in the larger forms, just can't bring myself to pull the trigger an pay those premiums on the five an ten oz versions, but I will find some at lower cost as of yet....
