I decided to go into a local sports memoribelia store today. The guy who owns it will buy and sell almost anything. today he had a sack of wheat pennies that he saved out of his drawer. 1 paid 5 dollars for the whole thing. there were about 20 pre 1940 pennies and 2 IHPs. while he was looking for the pennies for me he found another sack of silver coins and sterling rounds. 10 - 100 peso 1979 mexican coins 2 - 10 dollar olympic coins 4 - Morgan dollars10 - 33 g sterling rounds 6 - 22g sterling postmaster rounds A 1965 gardiners island proof set all 3 coins 1960D quater 5 silver dimes total price was 425 for all of the coins including 250 pennies. Does anyone know if anything has more than PM value? specifically the canadian 10 dollar coins, the pesos, or the gardiner island proof set

I assume you mean the $10 Canada 1975-1976 Oly coins? They weigh a bit more than 1 oz, like 1.4, maybe? The series usually has a very small premium over spot on ebay. The most collectible come in a boxed set with 2- $5 and 2- $10 coins. Since yours isn't that, luck of the draw, really. Depends on the condition. If you mean the 1979 Mexico 1 Peso Casa de Moneda 1 oz., same thing. Condition would make some difference. The postmaster rounds probably didn't come with the stamps, right? If they did, that could make a difference, along with the theme. They're .925, so again, best answer is... depends. I'm not abreast on the US silver but I'm guessing it's PM value is around spot. We'd need pics to give you a better answer. Sorry, just noticed you said 100 peso. Those are the 1/2 coins with a man's portrait? Looks colonial? Anywhere from spot to quite high, but I'm guessing they're the regularly circulated variety. If so, spot.

Quote: I assume you mean the $10 Canada 1975-1976 Oly coins? They weigh a bit more than 1 oz, like 1.4, maybe? There were both $10 and $20 Olympic coins produced. The $10 ones are around 0.7 ozt. while the $20 coins were double that at about 1.4 ozt. silver weight.

Quote: There were both $10 and $20 Olympic coins produced. The $10 ones are around 0.7 ozt. while the $20 coins were double that at about 1.4 ozt. silver weight. If you say so. Normally, I wouldn't feel comfortable correcting someone on this site but if you sold yours thinking they were only .7 ozs. each... Well, not good. Where to begin: Those $20 Canada Oly's Ed was referring to weren't made in the 1970's like yours. And the $20's are not, nor were they ever 1.4 oz., either, nor are your $10 Oly's only .7, as Ed mistakenly stated. He's thinking of the $5 Oly's, also from the 1970's. Ed's getting two sets of commemoratives from different decades mixed up. Simple mistake, really, especially if one doesn't collect them. Personally, I prefer the late 1980's $20 series, myself. Far more diverse sporting events are represented, better artwork, and nicer mirror finish, IMO. I believe the $20 series from the 1980's are all .925 but Canada included enough silver to put the ASW around a 1 oz. a piece. Hopefully, that clears things. It gets to be a mess when one is dealing with two different era's. Or four, if one counts the 1990's and late 2000 Canada Oly's, But that a whole new can of worms involving different denominations and even more variable fineness and silver weights. BTW, I didn't comment on the other coins you picked up because I don't really know enough to say for sure.

Mia cupla. I trusted some info I found on-line without verifying it. After doing some searching, most of these coins are of $5 and $10 denominations with the $5 coins having the 0.7 ozt. silver content and the $10 ones having the 1.4 ozt. sliver content. Also, there were a BUNCH of these made in various series. The RCM has quite a lot of info on them.

These are the two 10 dollar olympic coins. I found a bunch for sale on ebay that are not selling. the price is 39.99. seems like that is too steep of a price, maybe closer to 30 in this market

The gardiner island proof set. from the research I did it seems pretty rare. only 3000 sets made.

I second traevin. $40 is about right for that Canadian Olympic coin. Not much collector value if at all. All in the silver.
