Spending cigarette money on coins is a great way to reward yoursef. After a while of doing this I started to feel like I was spending too much money on coins each week. Better than spending $75 on a carton. Gotta remember how fast that money was spent on smoking with no hesitation. Good luck samsonate.

There is something about starting to buy PM, it really takes a hold of you. I don't think it's greed, as I don't obsess over my collection, but I think there is a certain *something* common to all of us that take the plunge and buy that first silver/gold coin. I still remember getting my first silver coin around 25 years ago, a 1967 Canadian Lynx quarter from my grandmother, that I still have. The first silver coin *I* bought was a 2011 American Silver Eagle. I now have several thousand dollars worth of silver, platinum, and gold. I have never been good at saving money, and now, not only am I saving money, I am SPENDING money to save money.

Talk about a lifestyle change!

Also, if you quit smoking, the return on your silver investments will be exponentially higher, as you will live longer!

Wow...been awhile since I've seen this thread. I guess I should post an update.

Since I started this thread its been ups and downs....good runs not so good runs. As it stands right now....and for the better part of 3 months now, I don't smoke almost a pack a day anymore. Have I totally quit? No. For the last 3 months I've had 2 smokes a day. One with morning coffee and one after dinner. I've been content with that for now....don't have nic fits all day, not irritable or short tempered. Just the bare minimum needed to satisfy. My wife doesn't seem to mind too much since it is an incredible difference from where I started....and one day it'll be gone for good. Not reviving the thread or anything but just an update. CHEERS!

I'm in a similar position, been smoking for ages and literally burning my money and killing myself. I hope I can get rid of this habit before its too late. Rewarding and saving in PM's is a great trade off. Glad to hear your wife is on board. Still working on mine.
