Hi all. So. today I was going through sacks of metal detecting coins from my outings. As well as old coins I have found in other places. Barns, houses, basements, attics ext. Many of them I never bothered to really look at the dates closely because of their poor condition. Or I just missed them. And tossed them into my dug, culled or low grade coin bags. However today. I saw this nickel from the reverse. And noticed it was nicer than I thought. So I flipped it over and I took out my loop to look at the date. I think I know what the date is. However I don't want to suggest what I think it is. I want your opinions without mine. So its a seen from fresh eyes. I appreciate your help. Thanks!

I think it is 1879, but I could see that it might be 1875 though.
Look at it under a loupe or magnifying glass and you can probably see it better than we can see it in the photos.
When will you say what year you think it is?

I took the picture through a loop. I honestly can't tell if it is a 1870, or 1879. 90% of the people I have asked say 1879. Its been a fun one to try and ID. It is possible it could be a 1875 as well. But I doubt it. Its really hard to see in the photo. but the top of the loop is smaller than it appears in the picture. Its closer to the "9" than a "0". I have also soaked the nickel in hot water to remove the filth on it. It looks like it was stuck to another coin at some point. It cleaned up nicely. I also found a few other interesting coins today I will post. Anyway. I am honestly at a stand still on this nickel. I personally believe it to be a 9. But I also think logically it makes more sense it could be a 0 because the 1879 is listed as a very scarce coin in the book. thanks for all your input!! I appreciate it!

Tough call. At first I thought 1879 but the more I look at it, the more it's looking like 1870.
