For those of you that read my posts you know I have been on an old pour kick for a couple months now. I like just about any old pour bar over 10oz especially Engelhard Bull Logo bars and just about anything JM.

Today I got my second 20 oz bull head bar from my good friend silverhawk and was kind of surprised it was a little different then the other one I own. The one I got today that has an earlier serial number is thinner but longer. The other has a serial number in the 250,000 range is thicker. I know that all old pours are different but I was assuming these two would be the same dimension.

Does anyone know where I can find out how old these bars are? Any basic knowledge about them would be greatly appreciated.

One thing is for sure I am in love with this new bar. The swirl marks from the actual pour are just amazing. I want to use it as a paper weight on my desk at work but I can't stand the thought of people just constantly handling it.

I'm sure people are getting sick of my pictures but since I love looking at others picts I feel I must post :)

Wow, that is 40 oz. of some great silver no doubt....

Very interesting to note the size difference, great observation an something one would never notice until comparing the two bars side by side....

The ripple bar is way cool eh, one of the best I have encountered to date. The other one has its own cool personality as well with the rim toning, just great pieces all around....

This is very common with engelhard and JM
Different molds even in the same serial series of pours
When I get home I'll post an example of what you have in the JM version one with a large logo the other with a small logo

Post on my brother! I never tire of seeing the pics, even if it is of silver bars. But please don't take it to work with you and use it as a paper weight. The one post I could not bare to read would the one you would post if it went missing.

Well then Tim if you insist ;)

My current bar hoard minus the Kilo JM old pour do in tomorrow.

Throwbackids-Pm-Hoard

This is the bar I am currently in negotiations for. I need to probably slow down on buying silver but at sub $30 per I have a hard time not wanting to go "all in"

Throwbackids-Pm-Hoard

I hope my wife will let me buy it. LOL NOT

Excellent! Keep the pics coming and putting the history pieces together! I saw a 5 oz with ox logo went for $249 today. I had a chance but hesitated.

Btw, what is the square piece?

Amaths,

The square is the first of my buddy's .925 bars, he is making them from the scrap sterling he buys. I wouldn't normally buy these types of things but at $15 per oz I know I can turn them for a profit.

This new 5 oz. Engelhard showed up today, an as old an rare as this type is, not a great price but a fair one perhaps. But not too shabby either at 190 shipped, an I can get more an plan to as cash allows....

I don't EVER like paying 38 per oz. when silver is just over 28, but for these tougher to come by bars in the five oz. size it will be worth it in the long run. Just think what these would bring if silver ever hits fifty per oz. again, easily three hundred I would think....

Love the girth, Hawk. Totally understand the premium on that kind of bar. You'll make a killing on it once silver begins heading back up.

Today's haul, from two different suppliers.

JM bar is an absolute beauty IMHO.

Interesting to note, that set is an obsolete dollar collection, which the silver cert, an both the Morgan an Peace would qualify for, but when was Engelhard 1 oz. bar ever considered a dollar, lol?

Regardless, great eye as that is one great looking piece, great wall hanger, something one can hang up an enjoy looking at....

Personally, I would disagree with the term "obsolete" being applied to both the Morgan and Peace 90% silver dollars. They are REAL dollars and not that cheap paper trash that passes for dollars today. One look at the buying power of these tells us all we need to know about what is obsolete and what is not!
