Here is a wheat back cent I dug metal detecting. I dug this coin under a very large tree in the college hill neighborhood in my town. it was resting very close to the base of the tree on top of a large root. It was not very deep at all. So with that, and the fact the coin has been circulated. It was definitely not dropped or lost in 1922. Possibly the 40's. I dunno. Copper tends to hold up quite well under trees. Which is why I love to hunt under them. Especially since they make good spots to duck out from the rain. they act as umbrellas. And when leaves fall. they cover up coins like large silver coins. great hunting spots.

I posted this coin to share with fellow hunters. because it was my first 1922 D. And a Key date in the series. Some think its a weak D. I dunno. I have never had one of any type before. So. I am posting here for your feedback. Sorry the close up is a bit dark...

thanks.

I am sorry to say that this is not a weak D, its just a regular Denver mint Cent. On a weak D, the words In God We Trust should be weak, on yours they are all strong. On the bright side it is still a semi-key date, congratulations on your find.

That is actually a fairly strong mintmark for a 1922D, a true Weak D is almost nonexistent. Most likely circulated but the details I see look very nice, could you show a picture of the reverse?

It's just a regular 22D.

What does the reverse look like? It's hard to find these with fully struck reverses.

NICE FIND!
