Ummm, can anybody identify this Bull-coin? Apparently I bought it for $10 ... however, now that I own it, I can't seem to find any details about the coin? ... *whateva* => I admit that I wasn't thinkin' too straight when I bid on it, late last night (lesson learned) ... hey, no judging me!! Thanks for your help ...

Ummm, was that you judging me, or was that you doing the universal sign for what-the-fork?

... maybe it's merely an old piece of gum?

... or maybe it's a bit more like Potato Jesus?

You didn't do bad for $10--it's a Greek/provincial with recognizable detail. Nothing rings a bell for now. The first starting point might be the inscription, which I can't quite make out.

I thought it may be a Roman Republic coin, but I will defer to our trusted Greek specialist DVC.

Hey, thanks for the response DVC ... Hi Yah, for $10 I may merely list it the "barn-yard animal" section of my ancients (I'm a total sucka for the animal coins!!)

Ten Bucks! Unless it is a tourist knockoff, where can you get an old Greek anything for ten bucks?

Thanks oxos ...
Well, you could probably get yourself a $10 Greek salad ... but yes, I agree (and I must having been thinking along those lines, late last night) ...
Hopefully one day, I'll be able to add a bit more info to barn-yard Bull-coin, but for now => thanks again!!
Well, I'm hitting the sack for the night (today was a nice, long, sunny day of golfing) ... "priceless"

Quote: I thought it may be a Roman Republic coin JW, I also suspect it may be from the same time period, but the overall style looks more Greek--is the inscription too?

Hi ... I don't mean to be a pest, but I'm merely asking one more time, just in case somebody was sleepin' out there last time ...
=> does anybody have any info regarding this poor ol' Bull-coin?
... anybody recognize it? ... anybody? ...
Thanks

I haven't seen a match...yet. I suspect the inscription will help, but what I see doesn't remind me of anything yet. Perhaps when you receive it, you'll be able to see more of the inscription.

Looks like a perfectly normal Greek bronze as issued by a thousands of cities in the last two centuries BC before Rome put a stop to most such issues. The city name should be above and below the bull but I do not recognize the type and can not read enough letters to name it. Perhaps a Greek bronze specialist would know it right off. I might try posting it on Forvm Ancients where more Greek collectors hang out.

thanks, DVC (Kurt) ... Wow, it's now totally gnawing at me ... go figure, eh? => man, $10 bucks says that I end-up spending $50 bucks to send this $10 buck coin to David Sear!! (*sigh*) ... never drink and ebay-shop!! Thanks for responding, Dude (I hope that you're having a great spring/summer so far!!)
