The first double struck two dollar that appeared on the market was at Downies Auction 303 and it realised $1550. This was a 2008 coin and to date is the highest price fetched for a recent double struck $2. Another 4 double struck $2 coins appeared in the next few months and PP and I bought 3 of these all for well under $1000. The highest price one got in this time was in a mail order catalogue (MRR Roberts) and that was a touch over $1k. In November 2010 another one sold in a Downies auction for $1.2k. None has realised over $2k and most on ebay have been going for $600 or less.

I tracked the prices of all these double struck coins for about 18 months and PP and I wrote an article about them back in August 2010. I stopped watching them because they are appearing with regularity now. They are being fed to Padstow Coin Centre by a security company employee.

Its good youve managed to stay focused ADIMSLE. My collection started strictly with pennies and half pennies but since joining CCF its ballooned outwards out. control.
