Hello goodstufftoo, to the forum.

I think you are right to doubt the attribution of this coin, Its certainly not Constantine II. Its also not Constantius II which I think is where whoever attributed it got a little confussed.

The pictures are a little small but I think your coin is:

Julian II
DN FL CL IVLI-ANVS NOB C - Emperor right, bare-headed, draped, cuirassed.
SPES REI-PVBLICE - Emperor, helmeted and in military dress, standing left holding globe and spear.
SMKGamma - Minted in Cyzicus (Turkey) between 355-361AD. RIC VIII Cyzicus 118.

You should be able to confirm this by eye using the legends on your coin as you will be able to see the characters better than we can from the pictures.

I would also add to bobbyhelmet's reply that I hope you didn't spend $20 as indicated on the 2x2. That would be overpriced IMHO.

I agree with bobbyhelmet, but there is the possibility of a mule for.....

Constantius Gallus Obverse, Hybrid with a Julian II Reverse, c. 355 A.D.

http://www.acsearch.info/search.htm...=&c=&a=&l=#8

Need to be able to read the obverse legend though.

You came to right place! These guys will have attributed before you can blink. I agree though, pop it out of its sleeve and shoot it again.
