Nice BU wheatie, the "cracked skull" die cracks do not really add any extra value and are commonly found on cents from that era.

Does this coin look like it's lost its luster to anyone else? Still a newbie here...

Goly,
How is that a negative comment? Maybe it was taken the wrong way but I was asking a question. To my untrained eyes at first look the coin looked a little dull and I have tried to read through threads about cleaned coins and retoning etc. On a second look maybe it looks fine. The point is a simple " no steve thats how it should look" would have suffice. I'm just trying to learn and had no negativity meant for my coment. Happy collecting!

I think Stev18 meant HE was still a newbie here - not referring to goly1328 being a newbie here.

The OP coin is common - like Biokemist said. It is a cracked die, but that's nothing uncommon for 1955 cents.
The grade of this coin appears to be closer to MS63, but is spotty.
Steve's comment and question is far from negative. To answer, this is what you get when you use a scanner with coins...no luster. The coin actually probably still has most of its natural, satin like luster caused by the very late state of the die that struck the coin.
