So I'm going to use this thread both to figure out the logistics of a little project I'd like to pursue (as well as ask for any advice or pointers toward where I might find good deals to make this a bit easier) as well as to open up discussion of other projects other posters might be thinking of.

So, my project. This year and next year are big years for me. This August I'm beginning a PhD program, and this October I'm getting married. One week after the wedding, my wife will turn 25. Next year I turn 25.

So I had a fun idea to go with two 25th birthdays and these other major life events. I'm a big lover of proof sets and silver, so I'm thinking about getting silver proof sets for 2012 and 2013 and a sort of commemoration of these years.

I'm not just thinking U.S. silver proof sets, though. I'm thinking that if I want to do this properly I should do it with proof sets for the three countries with the largest representation in my collection: The United States, The United Kingdom, Canada.

So silver proof sets for the U.S. and U.K. and silver specimen sets for Canada. The big issue I'm going to have is affording these. I know that if I wait a few years I could probably pick these up for a bit under issue price, but I think I'd like to gather these up as I can get them before the end of next year because of the meaning.

Any thoughts or suggestions for places I might be able to land some good deals on these sorts of sets?

Anybody have their own little projects they're working on? I'd love to hear about them.

I got married last year and had the same idea. I'm going to purchase an australian 2011 fine silver proof set to commemorate the year.

25 years? You need to be working on 1987 and 88, not 2012 and 2013.

This is a rare chance. I won't tell you how to do it right; I'll just tell you to do it.
