I know I have seen this posted here before, but after several searches have not been able to find the post.

I'm looking for the silver content (% of an oz) for junk silver coins. I link to the old post would be fine. Thanks!

From memory, it's around .718, maybe?

From Wiki:

"Any combination of 90-percent silver U.S. coins which have a face value of US$1.00 contains 0.715 troy ounces of 99.9-percent silver[2] (0.7234 troy ounces if uncirculated), except for the silver dollars (Morgan and Peace) which contain .7736 troy ounces of silver."

Very nice site, Sam. Thanks for the link.

BTW... 1964 US silver coins are also 90% silver content, so most places refer to pre-1965 US silver coins when they talk about junk silver.

If you google "Measuring the Metal Value of Coins" the first hit is the site I was trying to post.

If you are unable to post a link to a site here on CCF, there is a reason. Spelling out the name with spaces or doing something else to point people to that site is not permitted. The first warning was very clear. Do not disregard our rules. They are there for a reason.

Is there an issue with the "other one" I assumed it was an over overzealous filter thinking there was a bad word or something. If there is a real problem, e.g. inaccurate information, enemy of of this forum, etc. Please let me know.

Typically, web site references to specific sites that abuse this one WILL be deleted. Fortunately, there are lots of good sites out there with similar info that do not abuse other web sites and are not banned here.
