it's never happened before but I went 6 for 6 on coins I bid on early yesterday in the monthly auction at heritage. was shocked when I checked on my bids earlier today. now I'm having thoughts that include elation and remorse. did I go after poor coins or bid too much? I'll get over this in a few days. I am really showing more patience in my pursuit but it's probably been an expensive education. bottom line is that all 6 coins I won today replace lesser grades already in the collection. so anyone reading this with interest in US type coins - primarily 19th and 20th century - will find a friendly seller here in wv.

If your high bid was what you were willing to pay I would not sweat it. I put bids in all the time and win about 20-25% of them. If bidding goes over what I bid then so be it. There will be another coin come along again. So if you went 6 for 6, on reasonable bids, I say be happy.

I went 0 for about 10 yesterday at Heritage. Everything I wanted seemed to go for way above retail price guides. Usually if I'm watching that many things I get to come away with at least one or two at a reasonable price, but not this time around. I guess that means I'll have more money next time around, but I'd rather have some nice coins in the mail.

thanks for the reply. was sure that my original posting was deleted (not intentionally) before it was sent. the kind folks that run this place found it. in any event, I have about the same success rate at heritage as you guys. I find I do slightly better at heritage than teletrade, which was the first on line auction I discovered, not counting ebay. I figure what I'm willing to pay at both shops and pretty much walk away. thats's why yesterday was such a surprise. usual pattern is missing the one I wanted most and getting the ones that wouldn't have hurt if I lost.
