So I am still just bar-tending at Lakeside on Sat an Sun nights an working a couple of server shifts there during week to stay afloat in meantime, as the other bar-tending job at other marina restaurant never panned out, and all for the better as I really had zero interest of going backwards in time. Been there an done that, time for a new challenge.... So I did a Google search for gold jobs in Knoxville not expecting to find anything promising, an I stumbled onto an add for a place called "Gold Buyers" who has over two hundred locations in malls in 22 states.... http://www.careerbuilder.com/JobSee...&ipath=EXINDI filled out resume at Careerbuilders an for anyone else looking for part time or full time work or maybe a new opportunity I highly suggest this CB site.... One major thing I really like is three counters which show you resume searches, how many times employees have read your resume, an job application counter as well, similar perhaps to the ebay watch list feature, which kind of gives you an idea how many people are looking at your item or adding it to their lists.... I just filled it out late last night, an already have a few interview offers this morning beside the main job I targeted in the gold buyers.... The manager from Gold buyers in the mall called me this morning an set up an interview for this afternoon. Wish me luck I will need it, lol.... Edited by Silverhawk74 06/04/2012 11:01 am

Good luck, Silverhawk!
I just hope this isn't one of those rip-off joints that set up kiosks at the mall and offer people 10% of what their stuff is worth...

It is a kiosk Barry which worries me, may not pan out. But hey, think of the overhead for a kiosk in the mall, compared to the rent my last coin shop job was paying for their lease....
I will see what they offer, an if I feel they are robbing on people at 10 to 25%, I will NOT be part of it. Or it is a dead job with nothing to come from it I will move on to something else....
The fact is they are hiring full time as well as part, with a chance to move up. Also with this baby due around Halloween, I really have very little time to try an find a sound full time income with benefits an such and to get established....

Good luck silver hawk. You might be able to network with customers. Ones with good coins you can tell them that any hotter coins that they might have you would be willing to buy

Well I got the job an the pay is real close to what I was making at the coin shop, starting next Monday. Structured more to my liking as far as the more gold I buy, the more money I can make, bonuses an such figured in, esp after a good month.... I am only required to buy a minimum of 10 penny weights per week, via just 16 to 20 hours to start, but a good chance I will be working 30 to 35 hours per by September.... The guy who hired me an manages this particular kiosk said he took this job just temporarily when he moved back to town as his mother took ill, an it turned into a full time career. He said he hopes within 6 months are location will be very profitable, to where he can more less move on up the company as I will have a chance to do in time as well. If again I put enough into it, which I plan to attempt to.... At least it is a steady paycheck a couple of times a month, which will be huge for paying most of my bills, as that is what I used my checks from the coin shop to do before.... It aint much, but its my foot in the door again an I really wanted to try an build on what I learned from the other coin shop job. An I will be doing the EXACT same thing, minus we sell nothing, only buy.... This company owns their own melt as well an do pay high percentages on gold, but not so much on silver.... They offer real competitive rates and don't change them even when gold falls, as like most they know most likely it will head back up. And anytime you can convert your dying dollars you are doing good in the long run, solid theory perhaps.... Plus having at least two part time jobs is key for me to be able to pay all my bills an still have a little left for ebay inventory, so it should serve its purpose, an who knows could lead to much bigger things.... They put very little money in advertisement an it only cost like 1500 to have a kiosk, big swing from trying to clear 20 grand to break even.... The key to make it work, hand out their only form of advertisement, via these little gold buyer bags. An stats show for every 100 you hand out, two sellers will result from it later, just playing the numbers. I will excel at that no doubt, as mingling an BS is my specialty, lol.... I gotta say, twenty years in the bar-tending has helped me learn to become a solid interview. I dress real nice an told him that is how I always dress, via nice shoes an slacks as appearance I feel sells the world. He said I did not even feel like I needed to mention the dress code to you, lol....

I told you that all would be well and that you would find another job like the one you had at the coin shop. Man, I had faith in you... knew that you could and would do it. Congrats!

Silverhawk,
Please post "a day at the kiosk daily job routine." When you finally get the chance, is interesting how this type of business operates.
Congratulation by the way!

Thanks for all the kind words all, its not much but it will keep me treading water for the time being. In the end that is all many of us are doing living bill to bill attempting to stall for some more TIME. Just like in the movie, "In Time", lol.... I am real excited about trying to make this work out better then the last job, an it is a real weight off my shoulders for the time being.... I also feel that career builder site is always gonna be a real weapon from here on out, esp if this job does not work out like I hope. Kills me how many use the excuse to say there are no jobs out there. The truth is there are jobs if one knows where to look, and you don't even have to leave the house anymore to get an interview, if you have a comp an online connection.... If it was really all about the money, I may hold out an apply at some higher paying better jobs an have another by the weeks end. An no doubt in my mind that I could get my foot in many doors now, some of which I may not even be qualified for like Frank in "Catch me if you can, rof ! But for now I am gonna be happy to try an make this work.... I just figure most of the types that have grown comfortable living off of others dime chooses not to look because they are afraid someone might actually hire them, lol....

Oh the best part the manager is real cool an were on the same page, an he said often since our silver offers are not up to what people want, he has zero problem allowing me to make an offer for the silver, which could be a huge plus....
He also does not care and actually encourages if I advertise for the place here or face-book even, as I told him I would NEVER even mention the place in social sights even in a positive light. But if I did an it was not shunned upon I would only say POSITIVE things, and again he encouraged it....

Being able to get silver that way sounds like a huge plus lol I wish I had that kind of luck. I have to use ebay bc where I live there are no coin shops. "I just figure most of the types that have grown comfortable living off of others dime chooses not to look because they are afraid someone might actually hire them, lol...." isn't that the sad truth? Why work when you can just sit around and eat and sleep for free? Smh.
