I am looking for a world coin book. (Standard Catalog of World Coins 1901-2000) How important is it to get the latest issue. I am trying to save money, so I can buy more coins of course. Any suggestions?

Not very important IMHO. The composition ,weight and mintage of coins does not change. The FMV can always be estimated online...

I have used bookfinder.com to check lowest prices but I am not sure what year is the best to get without getting too old

Would 2010 be a good starting point or is there an older edition with the same info?

Depends...What century coins are we talking....if 1901-2000 a 2010 would be fine IMO. If you are looking for 19th century or older even a 2000 would be ok in my estimation...

Sorry, did not realize you specified 1901-2000.....2010 would be ok...

I appreciate your input though. Is The Strandard Catalog of World Coins the best reference book or is there one better?

Old coins don't change. Only the prices in the book change but they always seem to be wrong anyway
