I just picked up three rolls of 42 tombac nickels as part of a bulk purchase. Are there any interesting varieties to look for? Thanks!

No major varieties that I'm aware of. There are 21 minor varieties listed here:

You will probably find numerous die cracks if you are into that... I collect them when looking taking a break from looking through George VI Fifty Cents... I have at least 100... also look for doubling of the date for 1942 and doubling of the 3 in the date for 1943.

Thanks for the heads up on the varieties. I am not sure what to do with them all! They are all circulated, with a couple that might make MS60. So they are not particularly special but they aren't junk either.

I did find a few lower grade die clashes on George VI nickel dates from the same lot plus a 46 that appears to be some sort of a double 46.

Do you have a Zoell reference Smallcentguy? I can try to find one for you here in Ottawa, they seem to surface now and again...

No I don't have the Zoell guides. I have been watching for one but they don't surface very often. Any help would be much appreciated.

You can probably find a copy in the Toronto Reference Library. You are allowed to photocopy or scan parts of it for personal research.
