I am scanning my paper currency collection for inventory purposes and thought that I would share. The Minneapolis (I) is the key to the 1976 Series with a printing run of 640K. I need to work on my centering, perhaps a template of some sort.

Should I be looking out for $2 1976 I notes, or are they key dates in the way 2009 nickels are key dates? I actually think I have one... Oh, it's a star note, I don't have one of those...

Cap'n, I was referring to the STAR notes of (I) Minneapolis (and (J) Kansas City) as being the key(s) for the 1976 Series.

"Star notes from The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City are considered the rarest for the 1976 $2 star series. These notes usually trade for around $75 in uncirculated condition."

I am getting them ready to go to another collection via sales/auction soon.

The E, I and J had one run of 640K notes each.

The E (Richmond) has a ( RedBook) value of $75 in CU-63

The I (Minneapolis) has a ( RedBook) value of $300 in CU-63

The J (Kansas City) has a ( RedBook) value of $225 in CU-63

Same amount of notes, different values?

...and I found this one while sorting my paper currency.

Does the blue background help or hinder the note scan?

It's E, I and J that have one run of 640K notes.

Pricing depends on what is found / readily available. Meaning how many have survived, are there packs of notes? etc.
