It was unnecessary to put the word "facsimile" on the coin, as there were other differences that distinguish it clearly from the original. But it's a neat idea.

When we were doing the Shire coins this was the inspiration for the design... the basic idea of a tree surrounded by a text ring.

Plus the whole story that surrounds the "illegal" nature of the originals is fascinating! Hidden presses and contraband dies...
