So I'm looking through ebay listings as I do every night...and I come across this 1947dot nickel. The price is incredible for the condition that the coin seems to be in, that is IF it hasnt been cleaned (which it looks like it may have been). The picture also does a very poor job of showing the "dot" and the claimed "triple punched 9 and a quadruple punched 7" I looked as close as possible and was not able to see any doubling on any of the numbers in the date (perhaps the 7, but that may be just the picture)

regardless this seemingly MS-60 looking 1947dot + re-punched coin sold for $34 !

Either an amazing deal, or a total waste of money...thoughts?

The coin appears as described. Not even close to an MS coin,$34 seems like an equitable price.
Now we know what coingirl does with his vacation time.

guess I was wrong, oh well I learn everyday, thanks!

oh btw, what grade would you assign to this coin? I know its hard to see since the picture is only of the obverse, but it really looks like a nice clean coin IMO

The original listing has larger photos of both sides at the bottom of the page.

I would call it a VF30. Significant wear on the high points, but sufficient hair to avoid VF20. The critter on the reverse is missing significant details on hair on the higher points.
