Hello Everyone,

I'm new to taking photos of Coins. I've been a railroad photographer for several years now. You can see my photos on the following link.

Any way I'm having a very hard time taking photos of my coins. I'm using my Pentax Optio Digital camera for photos but I can't get good photos. Any ideas or suggestions?

Please let me know.

Thank You,

Eric

SuperDave did a pretty good writeup here in post 2. https://goccf.com/t/11582

Which particular problem are you having? Can't get close enough or lighting problems?

Well my suggestion is...Don't Zoom, Move the Camera Lens closer to the coin instead.
Makes a ton of difference with my cameras.

Optical zoom is fine, you're better off using it if you can. Keep the camera away to get more light in. Forget your camera even has digital zoom, at least for coins.

Maybe it's just my camera. I use a cheap Samsung DV Video Camera/Photo Camera and it's zoom blurs the coins for some reason. heh, it's cheap, but it works fine close up. I run a sharpen filter before I save the final image.
