My 1891 Morgan from a very special CCF member. BTW I now have two Morgan's (1900) won it from a contest.

My-Morgan..
So..how does it look? Am I getting any better? (in picture taking?)

Pictures are looking good!

I would suggest photographing them out of the mylar holders, though. It makes a difference in how the luster shows up. It also makes the coin details crisper.

Great job!!

Actually Susan, the coin is in an black rim air-tite holder. I guess I cropped it to much. Otherwise, is it good?

You too are a special CCF member, Mila_cent. That is a very nice coin and yes the photos look good. The close ups of Lincoln Cents you posted in another thread were good too.

Yes, the pictures are very good. I still would remove it from the holder prior to photographing a coin. Any type of plastic or mylar will hurt the sharpness of the details and the luster in pics. The only coins that I photograph in their holders are mint and proof sets.

Another thing to think about with containers, Mila_cent, is that they give the camera fits trying to decide what to focus on. The camera might not have enough depth of field to be able to get both the surface of the plastic and the coin in sharp focus, and it's likely to focus on whatever's closest.

Good Photos. Might suggest lowering the lighting a tad bit away from text if possible.
