What are the best settings to have on a digital camera, for taking pictures of coins? Is it better to take the pictures during daylight? or using direct sunlight?
Hankash, we have a whole forum dedicated to coin photography. http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...?FORUM_ID=81 . For answering basic questions such as these, you should review some of the applicable topics. There really isn't such a thing as "best settings" since each camera has its own positive and negative characteristics which will affect these settings. Similarly, lighting techniques vary too widely to make blanket generalizations. Best bet is to experiment a lot with your camera using different settings and lighting conditions until you are satisfied with your images. Take notes as you do a series of photos with a particular setting before you change settings; there are so many combinations of settings (shutter speed, ISO speed, f-stop, macro vs zoom, white filter, etc.) that if one setting proves better than another, you will be able to refer back to it.
