I just called my local coin dealer to check on the buy/sell price on US junk silver. He quoted buy = 17X face, sell = 21X face.
How's this compare with the outfits that you deal with; good, bad, or on par?

That sounds about right for dimes, quarters, halves. Selling is pretty much spot+2% which is fair. Dollars are another story, I would buy morgans and Peace dollars all day right now at 21x.

My dealer sells at spot x .8 per dollar face which I think is fair. When he has common Dollars they are $2 below spot.

So that's 18x the face value of the coin

Daniels, I sent you a PM.
That's not a bad price he is offering you. Here is a piece of unsolicited advice, I would in no way be selling silver at these levels. There are a lot of us like myself that are always looking for a good deal.
Take Care

My
For dollars, he's selling them at $28 for '21(?) Morgans and Peace, and $31 for other Morgans. Almost bought a nice Morgan, but there were other coins I was buying today.

Dealer to buy down 15% on ASW, dealer to sell up 5% on ASW yields 20% spread. When you consider all of his operating costs, seems OK to me. He would need some volume to do that.

Yeah Alaska is pretty bad, it's usually cheaper to order online and pay any shipping.
