I'll definitely be purchasing at least one. I was originally going to buy more, but the whole "mint to demand" thing makes me doubt whether these will have much investment potential and therefore I will probably just buy one set for my collection. On the other hand, it does include a reverse proof, which always seems to be in demand by collectors. On the other other hand, though, will it still command a premium down the road if they end up minting a million of them? On the other other other hand, though, what if everybody feels the same way I do and they only end up minting 100,000 of them...

OK, I'm out of hands at this point. I guess I'll get one today and then revisit the issue in a few weeks before the purchase window closes. Maybe by then the value of silver will have skyrocketed and I'll feel better about shelling out $150 for each set.

Somebody give barryg a hand!

I am waiting till the end (July 5th) to see what kind of sales (mintage) numbers are given...hopefully the sales counter will be active like I've heard. At least one set, maybe a few others for friends, just not today.

Wow! All great points! I think the reason they are doing the whole "mint to demand" thing is because of the fiasco they had with ordering the 2011 Anniversary set....

I think even with the way the Mint has this structured, it will probably will crash the on line order center for the first hour...

The sales counter is up...sorta

"*Data for cumulative total units ordered will first appear on June 8, 2012 at approximately 3 p.m. (ET). "

I was hoping for a "real time" counter...is that too much to ask?

So much for the anticipated site upgrade, the slowness of the site was at a record snails pace and even locked up during order review and would not proceed. I had to restart checkout, but this time I got a confirmation number.

I did not have this much trouble with the 25th anniversary sets

So this is a 75th anniversary set which dates back to 1937 according to my math, what happened then, something to do with San Fran mint no doubt, opening or shutting perhaps?

The 75th Anniversary of the latest SF Mint. The first coins minted in SF were in 1854 (Gold coins).
