two others, slight lighting change in these two compared to the other two..nothing major but hoping one of these photos will clear up the whole "somewhere between vf30-ef40".. the reason I'm asking/pushing for help of this matter is because I may not make it to send the coin into a pro grade company and I want to be knowelgable when I go heads up with someone at a coin shop, or when I list facts, details about the coin online when trying to sell it. plus I might sell here on this site and I want people to know what the coin is all about and such. please, any and all feedback./input/opinions here are welcomed. (wish I had my other barber halfs?! they were stolen ): ) check my other posts, check out my other coins if this guy here is getting boring lol (: thanks!

Nice coin! Key date for the series. I would think this one would benefit from being certified by PCGS or NGC. I'm sure some here might want a close up of the mint-mark.

thank you joe2007. I'm in love with this coin, i;'ve learned so much about it over the past little while!!(: thanks for the advice, we are definetly going to have it sent it. I heard some national coin show is coming up in denver soon so its a bad time to have coins sent in for grading(as far as waiting time goes). but will figure out a plan here asap..also let me snaop a photo/close-up of the mint markm, give me about 5-10 min.(:

There isn't any national con show scheduled for the Denver area any time in the next few months but, there might be some local coin shows. There are a number of coin shops in Denver which are listed in the American Numismatic Association Dealer Directory who would be able to submit your coin to either PCGS or NGC for you or you could take it to a few of them and get an appraisal from each and then you can make a decision to sell it to one of them, submit it to be graded and slabbed, or try to sell it on ebay.

I'm thinking this coin might pull a VF-35 grade.

Retail value would be in the $500-550 range. Better date and a nice original coin with no damage.

okay were trying to sell the coin to a coin dealer ship when we bring it in there he tells us that it is only worth 250 bucks in some book and only offering us two ninety for it.
what can I say in our defense to make him pump up his offer to the suggested retail value

The simple fact is that no dealer is going to pay retail because they need to make money.

I doubt you would find any takers with it ungraded at 400 from a dealer. Another collector and ebay, sure, but probably not a dealer.

If your looking for closer to retail price you may want to try ebay. Dealers have over head such as rent and electric. Their offer will reflect this. You could try a coin show if one comes to your area any time soon.

As to your market value; ebay Item Number 280893487582, which I encourage you to go look at, is the same coin in GEM BU which is at $290 with 12 bids and a day left. That won't hit $400. Granted GSC is known for high end photography that has been accused of putting it up a grade but still that coin is easily AU50 and again it wont go for $400. Why would your dealer pay you more than $290 if he can go online and to shows and not pay retail as a dealer? It's business my friend.

Anuhoo, I think your coin is fantastic and I wish I had one like it
