Poll Question
Will the 2012 San Francisco Silver Eagle set's end up with a higher mintage than the 2006 20th ann sets at 248,875 ? The meter is currently showing 85,340 units sold in only 4 day's of sales.
Order Information:
There will be a four-week ordering window beginning June 7, 2012, at noon (ET) and ending July 5, 2012, at 5 p.m. (ET). These sets will be minted to meet demand.

We have no way of knowing how many sets were sold on the mint web site since 3pm Friday. The next time the mint is scheduled to update the counted is 3pm Monday. So the wise money is on the bet that they are selling coins over the weekend and that count is behind what is actually showing on the ticker.

That meters 86k sales is only the first 27 hours of sales not 4 days. It also doesn't say if its number of sets sold or ordered. It very well could already be over the 2006 mintage level

It will be well over 2006 levels. They have not updated that counter since the first day of sales, and they don't say if it is counting orders or individual unit sales. I wouldn't be surprised if that is counting orders, which may average 2 or 3 sets per order. I agree that it has surpassed 250k already. We won't know until Monday at 3pm.

I have yet to order mine. I lean to just ordering one set. Everytime I think about ordering more, I realize that it is probably a loser at mint pricing. I won't be surprised if they end up selling at less than issue price on the secondary market.

Of all the Mint's products, proof ASE's tend to hold their value. I don't think you can this instant get an unblemished proof of any of the already issued years on the resale market for LESS than the offering price. So, these proofs, would hold their value at the current spot value of Ag. If it falls to $5.00/oz. that's a whole 'nother story. I can't imagine these going for less than $70 each on the aftermarket unless damaged.

This set could however drop down to the 60 or even 70 a piece level and it would have lost value overall. That is of course not taking into account any drastic silver spot prices

The counter says "units ordered" so its not how many orders it's the number of sets sold.

Don't forget to add the $5.00 shipping cost to the total cost of the "Two Coin Set". So, rounding up....... that'd be $77.50 per coin. And this is with no slabbing/grading/postage/insurance/shipping/joining a T.P.G./F.S. designations/ etc., etc., etc... I'll still pass, thank you. I don't see much of a frenzy profiteering bubble with this one happening, and so then you're just left with the actual "collecting" of something you like, regardless of "money-making" ventures. And in this case, I did both for the 5 coin set. The "S" mint novelty has worn off now for me with the ASE's....this will be happening every year now with these, so...... NOT FOR ME !

I voted it will be above the 2006 set, since it is going to be quite popular. I think the reverse proof will be a much higher valued coin than the other one, if the set was broken apart and sold individually.
I think it is awesome they have a counter on the ordering site for it. I've never seen them do that before. It is at 85,341. I wonder how often that counter gets updated?

As the order page clearly states, the units ordered counter is updated at 3PM ET Monday through Friday. As a side note, 3PM is an important time at the PBGS fulfillment center. That is when they close daily shipments and deliver shipping information to UPS, FedEx, and USPS. Any order that changes status to shipped after 3PM ET will actually leave PBGS with the next day's shipments.

In another 2.5 hours, I'll check it, to see if they really do update it then.

This year has at least 2 of them alone with a possible 3rd on the way. This years offerings is getting absurd now at this point. I used to try and get one of all of them they offer minus the bullion but this year is making me want to put an end to that. I dont need 4 different S mint ones or minted to demand sets that carry a new S mint since theyd already done a special S mint ASE this year. Keep the series simple yet good. 1 proof, 1 uncirc, 1 rp, 1 s mint. If they want to do special designs ect after that keep low mintages. In the past I have been all for new mint products and I still am, just not if all that means is they are going to make 100 different ASEs where the only difference is the mint mark
