The coins are adorned with the images of the emperors and on their reverse are cultic portrayals of the emperor, symbols of the brotherhood of warriors and mythological gods such as Jupiter seated on a throne or Jupiter grasping a lightning bolt in his hand.

And a ring with a precious stone on which there is a seal of a winged-goddess.

That's a great find indeed. Would have been great if there was an inventory of the hoard.

One day one of us will find a hoard this good. Personally I'm watching obituaries for that guy who hurried his gold in his yard. :p

Wow, that would be such an adrenaline-rush finding a stash of treasure like that, eh?

... those coins are magnificent, but that ring would be an absolute killer present for my wife!! (she would look pretty sweet with that treasure on her paw!!)

What are you saying Jerry? Doesn't she look "pretty sweet" without that treasure on her paw? Jerry, Jerry

It is worthy of note that bronze and silver coins freshly dug up can look much the same.

Gentle cleaning with a soft brush in water in the first instance, is needed to get an idea of the design type, for an indication of the metal underneath. When the metal is known, a cleaning approach suitable to the kind if metal is attempted.

The gold obviously stands out.
