I just picked up a very nice 1872 50 cent piece. It does not have the A/V variety, but the A is noticeably doubled. It is the only thing doubled on the obverse. On the reverse it is a 7 over 7 but I don't see that variety listed. "ENTS is also doubled and so is "50". In the pictures you can see the "A" and the "50", you can't make out the rest but its there. Thoughts or comments? Would it command a premium?

tfred,
Your coin with the last A of REGINA doubled is listed in Charlton (my 2011) as variety A/A-2 (A/A-1 is the last A of CANADA). Listed at $375 Cdn. in VF, $800 in EF. Can't say if it's still that much now.

JohnK,
Your coin is the variety A/A-1 from above - your's has the doubled last A of CANADA. Prices were the same as the other variety.

I think all or most have a double S.
