1921-Morgan

1921-Morgan

I have been experimenting with the camera on my Ipad 3 and I was actually surprised at the quality of macro pics it takes. Here is a 1921 Morgan that a friend gave me. Please tell me what you think the grade of it is.

I think the coin at the very worst would grade AU-58. If it is MS, which is a possibility, I think it could grade around MS-63 give or take. The luster does not show up great in the pictures which is the reason for the range of grades. Your friend gave you a nice gift!

The coin does not have any shine to it.It actually is a bit frosted looking. I'm sure it could be rubbed off but there is no chance of me trying that. It looks great as it is and I wouldnt risk scratching it in order to get it to shine better. I was a bit shocked when my friend gave it to me. I couldnt believe he would just give it away but I guess he has no interest in coins. I offered to give him 20 or 30 bucks for it but he refused to accept any cash for it.

I will say AU-58 to be safe. I don't think the coin has circulated but it may have been dipped a few too many times resulting in some loss of original mint luster.
