Disclosure - I'm not affiliated with Provident Metals myself, but just saw they have Lakota bullion now listed for sale on their web site. I think the coins are quite beautiful. Personally, I like the "Crazy Horse" silver round just for its artistic beauty. The wifey loves the look of their copper rounds. Will likely pickup a double handful to hold for our granddaughter. From their web store : The Lakota, also known as Teton, are part of a confederation of seven Sioux tribes who dwell in the Dakotas. Today, there are roughly 70,000 Lakota people living within the Unites States and Canada, and as a semi-autonomous nation, they have actualized a form of independent currency--hence the creation of the Lakota Copper Coins.Anyone else see these ? Opinions ? http://www.providentmetals.com/feat...-rounds.htmlEdited by CitizenPatriot 06/14/2012 8:47 pm

Nice looking medallions and the price isn't that bad.

That's exactly what I was thinking, too. Granted, the copper rounds may just be a passing fad, of sorts, but I think they are pretty cool looking. And if copper shoots up significantly (as some have suggested it may), so much the better.
Heck, ya can't go too far wrong for a buck apiece, right ?

I liked the coins until I saw the $5.95 shipping. If you are looking for copper coins, check ebay for 1 oz copper bullion coins. You can find some for around $1-2 with free shipping. Some have great subject matter too

even at a buck each, those copper rounds are more then 5x spot price of copper, so I wouldn't expect to make any money at all on those.

I have one or two of the one ounce medals that I got for $2 each because I like how they look not for the copper content. John1

Don't think these are investment pieces, but just nice looking medallions that would appeal to collectors that like this sort of item. I really don't think their $5.95 postage is too high for shipping. With the cost of mailers and U.S. postal rates now, it seems like they are not gouging at all.

I agree that I am not buying it for the copper content, but for the price, they have great subject matter and are a fun gift for my godchildren. Nice and heavy and shiny
