I want to fill in a few holes that I have in my mint and proof sets. And I want to stay away from ebay if I can. Do any of you have recommendations for an online dealer that I can trust? I don't mind paying a little premium over ebay prices if I can get all I need at one place. I am just looking for convenience and not to get price gouged. Thank you

There are quite a few reputable online dealers. Here's the one you'll see open in my browser the most often: http://www.harlanjberk.com/

While I realize that it's trendy to be an ebay basher, there are also a lot of great deals on ebay especially in the mint/proof set arena. I recently got 26 years of Mint sets for $150.00. I was able to flip a few sets that I didn't need and got my out of pocket costs down to $60.00. I was very pleased. Most online dealers wanted $195-225 for a comparable lot.

there are also a lot of great deals on ebay... I have gotten some supurb deals on ebay, mostly from non power sellers who REALLY WERE selling their grandfathers coin collection. I recently bought two Morgans, an 1879-s and an 1880-s for $42 total from some lady, and they are in absolute mint condition!! Full luster, barely a bag mark, full breast feathers on one coin, and the other coin is so shiny/deep mirrored I can use it to shave. Now, the value of these two coins is not huge, I agree. But I believe they would would grade a realistic MS 62 or maybe MS63 or 64.

I can also confirm that there is a real possibility to get great coins at a very good price.
But you have to avoid power sellers, as they know what the things are worth. You need to spend a lot of time to carefully check the offers, which I don't have any more. And you need to accept a small risk of getting worthless things.
My best buy was a small lot containing containing several nice coins, including an absolutely UNC german 1 Mark coin from 1891 being worth alone 5 to 6 times the price of the whole lot.
On the other hand I did also get lots not even worth the postage...

I think as long as the seller has a good return policy its pretty hard to get burned.
But there are also coins I just don't think should be bought from pictures.
I've gotten most of my best deals at local shows, where I can grade coins in hand.
Harlan Berk is a good safe option for what you seek.

On any page past their front page, the telephone number is at the very bottom, along with their address, in extremely small letters.

Thanks to Dsking I have been looking at that site as well. I am getting ready to buy a Gold coin and they seem to have very good prices. Just not sure what one to get yet.
