I agree with fkl118, the Stampede dollar does look better in person than it does on the
RCM website.
One nice design feature that I did not pick up on via the
RCM's image was the different strike characteristics/finishes on the horse. While the horse and rider have a largely frosted finished for a nice contrast from the mirrored fields, the horse's mane and tail are struck to a brilliant uncirculated finish which sets them off distinctly from the rest of the horse as well as the fields.
Also, the different texture applied to the coin's die for the leather rigging on the horse sets it off well from the rest of the animal and nicely emphasizes the central role of the piece of equipment in the bareback bronc riding event.
Note: the tan color seen in my picture is just an artifact of the digital image, the rigging is distinct but not tan on the actual coin.The coin goes to show that with a little creative thinking, even a "simple" silver coin doesn't have to be plain.
Here's mine, it arrived on Wednesday -- just a week from order to mailbox!
