Hi all,

I recently acquired this 1917I Australian George V penny. Not bad with 6 pearls and some circulation. What does confuse me a little is the fact that all high points are typically copper colour and shiny with no patina. By looking at it, do you think this coin has had some kind of bath at some point? Or is this typical of the coins minted from India during this time? How would you grade it?

Been cleaned/scrubbed at some point, I would grade it as fine, unfortunately 1917 is not a rare year and there is a high number of quality 1917 pennies on the market, your coin is probably only worth bullion value.

Round 50c are and will never be anything but silver bullion so polishing them up isn't going to affect their value one bit.
