Hmm. The edge looks like red and silver. Almost like someone took sandpaper and rubbed it off. Can it be?

New to the forum, but I felt I should respond top the rumor that the new dollar coin errors are filed otherwise altered. All the coins being sold are from the Jacksonville Tallahassee Florida are real errors. They are being discovered by bankers, dealers and collectors alike. The US mint has acknowledged the problem and corrected it. Here is a link to a local Tallahassee newspaper article. http://tdo.com/apps/pbcs.dll/articl...01/702240327I have personally seen new rolls opened with 4 -10 blank edge coins per roll. This is a real error. I would be suspicious of blank edge coins from other areas of the country unless there are multiple sellers from that area as well, but the coins from the North Florida area are real.

Sorry, Meant to quote you. I personally found many of these errors. They all look like that, so you can stop accusing people on ebay of selling fake errors.

I have 109 of them that I took out of FED rolls at my office on thursday. they were minted in Philadelphia, and shipped from Jax FED on 2/21. We found a total of 247 of them in $700 worth we purchased from the FED. I am a tallahassee Bank Manager. They are real deals fellas.

Real? Definitely. Rare? Maybe. If this is the only batch that was released, HOLD THEM! Wait until the fact that only one bad batch exists becomes widely known. Then, the price will likely go through the ceiling, and you get to make lots of money on a genuine rarity. Even a thousand or two, of a mintage in the millions, will certainly be a seller's market.
If they turn out to be much more common, then the only thing you lost out on was the ability to prey upon the ignorance of people who were throwing money at pure speculation. Yeah, you lose some potential profit, but you get to like what you see in the mirror better.

I can't believe people are bidding so high on these coins, I mean just look at how many are listed on ebay, obviously its a common error and the price shouldn't be going as high as they are.

Laxmaster didn't accuse anyone, he asked a question, and a very legitmate one at that. Fake and misrepresented errors are sold every single day on ebay.
