I traded away several pieces in my commemorative set to pick up two Eisenhower dollars last week. I didn't touch my two favorite subsets from the series, my BTW and CW sets. My CW set is done, but I still have a few BTW's to go. My strategy is to do PDS sets in color and in blast white in alternating years. This was a matter of necessity as I picked up a couple richly toned pieces that just didn't look right next to their silvery white cousins. 1946, being such a common year, is a color date... and here's a MS-66 CAC 1946D

Lovely example Charles ...

I find it interesting and instructive that your favorite sets from this tremendous series of classic silver commemorative are the Booker T Washington and Washington Carver.

Your dedication to them exemplifies the beauty of this hobby ... each person makes their own choices on what to pursue based on their personal needs, interests and aesthetic.

For me ... one lovely blast white gem MS type example of each is just fine ... for you ... a true collecting interest.

That difference is what makes this hobby so great.

Thanks for sharing another lovely example from your set.

David

heh, I know what you mean David. For me, I like underdogs. And these two series don't get much respect despite some seriously low mintages. I also like the Virginia connection being a Virginian. I think though, there aren't that many classic commemoratives that I don't like- I'd have to say from a design standpoint, not really fond of the York one or the 1892-1893 Columbian.
