Found this today. Any thoughts? I think the crack made what looks like a bird on his shoulder

i think that it is a Cud from a die crack. Am I right?

Not a die crack or a Cud, just damage. You can see the scrape line running up that back of Lincoln's shoulder which displaced metal to the back of the neck.

so that small scratch can displace that much metal into a blob like that? I understand what you're saying about the scratch but I can see the outline of the back of his jacket and the scratch goes from the bottom left toward the top right and ends when it reaches the blob. You can still see where the back of the jacket outline is. Here are some closer pics.
