Anybody on here lucky enough to know about/win that contest on ebay from the-donn-shop for 0.99 auctions? They had a 1000 coin auction that they changed the price down to 0.99. I refreshed the page as fast as I possibly could and clicked buy it now within half a second of it becoming available and it was already gone. So I commend whoever has a dang fast trigger finger ;)

I've tried to win some of their 99 cent deals in the past, and just like you, despite being on there right away, never had any luck.

I bought something from them before and was just looking through what they had and in one of their listings I saw a few hints about a month ago that they were going to do this. I then had to find out which day and time...which was hidden throughout a few of their listings

domino's did a contest like this a few years ago. My wife became mini-obsessed with it and managed to snag a DVR player/recorder for $9.99. She was very proud of herself.

I missed a few by a few milliseconds. Got to click the big one at .99 cents. Then that darn "commit to buy" option comes up, click it...item sold . My heart was pumping for a few minutes after that.

Haha - nothing crazy, just a normal laptop. I guess I was just the lucky one!

Ebay-Contest

For those who were wondering what was in the package.. I received it last week and finally got a chance to look through. Nothing too crazy in there but as a relatively new collector, it was nice to get some coins to help build/bolster some of the date sets I've been working on. Most coins received were circulated and in varying conditions. Regardless, for $0.99 I'm happy to get whatever's coming to me! Here's the breakdown:

-2 loonies (95,09)
-43 nickel dollars (mostly 1976,1978,1979 and some 80s. The 70s ones were all MS)
-2 RCMP 1973 silver dollars

-2 half dollars ('70, '80) both MS
-3 USD half dollars - 40% silver

-44 quarters - various commemoratives

-11 various dimes - mostly MS taken out of date sets from the 70s, still in the plastic

-241 nickels - mostly King George:

24 - 1922
2 - 1923
8 - 1927
14 - 1928
10 - 1929
6 - 1930
8 - 1931
5 - 1932
3 - 1933
4 - 1934
8 - 1935
18 - 1936
3 - 1937
1 - 1938
1 - 1939
4 - 1940
1 - 1941
3 - 1942
16 - 1943
31 - 1944
13 - 1945
1 - 1946
3 - 1947
1 - 1949
2 - 1950
1 - 1951 (beaver)
11 - 1951
3 - 1952
1 - 1954
1 - 1960
1 - 1961
2 - 1962
1 - 1964 (XWL - very happy about that)
1 - 1965
1 - 1966
14 - 1967
1 - 1968
3 - 1969

A few others from 70s, 2000s as well as 10 mint rolls of the 2005 nickels

160 pennies - large and small cents. Unfortunately a lot of the large cents had some green on them:

1 - 1876
1 - 1883
1 - 1886
1 - 1896
1 - 1900
1 - 1901
1 - 1906
1 - 1907
1 - 1909
3 - 1913
2 - 1915
3 - 1916
10 - 1917
6 - 1918
8 - 1919
1 - 1920 - large
1 - 1920 - small
3 - 1928
3 - 1929
1 - 1930
1 - 1931
16 - 1932
11 - 1933
4 - 1934
2 - 1935
1 - 1936
5 - 1940
4 - 1941
4 - 1942
4 - 1943
2 - 1944
3 - 1945
3 - 1946
3 - 1947
2 - 1948
4 - 1950
8 - 1951
6 - 1952

There were some other random date pennies and one 1940 Wheat penny, as well as 2 rolls of 2012 pennies.

Included was also:
7 date sets - 1964 (silver), 1968, 2x 1970, 1974, 1977 and 1986 as well as one roll of half dollars

There were also some random misc. foreign coins.

In total it was about $125 in face value - not bad!
