I ask every time I go to a bank (2 times a day on average since I have nothing better to do with my summer) and I've only been able to pick up 6 of them in the past month. Is there any other way I can get them for face value?

I wouldn't think so, your bank is the best bet.

When I first started looking through halves, the smaller branch banks in the suburbs did not have any halves. But, they said to go to the larger main branches in the city. I asked there and they had all I could ask for, and more. Usually the smaller branches don't have the vault space to hold large quantities of halves or dollars like that and they ship them over the main branches.

Also, you could ask them specifically to get you a box of halves and hold it for you, but you most likely have to be an actual customer of the the bank with an account with them in good standing.

Good luck hunting!

TJB, in Canada, we are not able to ask for boxes of halves since the banks dont carry them for a long time now.

joboman, what you are doing is the best way to get 50 cent pieces

when you hit 50 posts you can post in the trade section, there are MANY helpful members here who will send you some at face (if you arent looking for anything special).

2001 and 2003 will be ebay or coin shop (very low mintage)

Im surprised that you've had trouble finding rolls of 2002, I know my dad bought a few back then.. not sure where they are now. I think a lot of people held onto them

So .. you post a trade anyway and in the wrong part of the forum
As you have stated you are fully aware of the rules regards to trades on this site, Yet you seem to assume you are an exception.
Very bad form on your behalf

ahahaha => that totally reminds me of that classic ol' joke about the randy young bull and ol' wise stud-bull, looking down on the herd of pretty cows ...

the young, eager bull has never 'kissed' a cow, so he is totally chompin' at the bit to run down the hill as fast as he can, so he can rush-up and kiss one of the pretty cows ...

punch-line => "hey-hey-hey, wait-up there, young fella ... let's take our own sweet time, saunter down there slowly and then we'll 'kiss' the whole bunch of them!!"
