I like to get into new hobbies quite often and have decided to start collecting coins as a part time hobby. This is my first true purchase so far. I bought it today and wanted to know what some of the more experienced and knowledgeable members think of this coin. My guess on the grade is somewhere in the range of VF20? This is a total guess going by my Red Book. What would you say the grade is? I understand unless you hold it in your hand you cannot give me an accurate grade, also my pictures may not be the best so just give me your opinion on what you can see. I really like the old US silver coins. Dimes, quarters, halfs, dollars. Matt from Kentucky

What a great start! I would grade this one at XF45, not sure if it's been cleaned or not, but it's a dandy nonetheless!

wow a beauty very nice I would agree with the grade EF-40 / 45 in some instances it does look a bit cleaned but it could be the picture

Don't know if I'd go as high as EF45, but definitely higher than VF20... Great coin!

You have picked a nice one! I think it may be somewhere around a VF-35 to EF-40.

Looks like someone has a lot of money for coins. That one is sort of like buying a Ferrari for your first car. Nice coin.

Wow thanks for all the input. I paid 50$for f myor it which I am happy with it. Its so cool to hold a piece of history. What gives evidence of cleaning? I say its my first true collecting piece although I've recently invested in quite a few silver eagles and a really nice 1oz silver bar from 1976 with an eagle on it.
