It just blows me away how much ancient undiscovered treasure still exists mere inches beneath the soil. If you are seriously into metal detecting, Europe, and Great Britain especially, seems to be the place. Is it time to chuck the boring day job, buy an E-Trac, and move across the pond ? I would not even mind if the Authorities claimed the findings. It would be fantastic just to be a participant in a major uncovering like this.
I've been told by many people right here in the USA they find all kinds of coins with metal detectors. Mostly in places like where I live, the only thing a metal detector can find is the rebar under all the concrete. Public Parks and Forest areas have been worked to the limits. I'd be surprized if anyone could find a nail around here.
