North Ryde? Go bush out around Penrith or Campbelltown. Any further out and the garscooters will eat you. Past Katoomba and you're in the desert........

Well that and its a mythical land that many hear about but few ever get to visit

Seppo! Thats great! No offense was taking...though it may rhyme with yank, I have a feeling that its because we Americans tend to spill crap from our mouths without thinking

Anyone have any cultural advice / urgent need to know recommendations.

Finally, if anyone is looking for some US stuff just pm me and I'll see what I can do. It would save on shipping

I think I may try my hand at some pre decimal coinage.

If your finances will allow, you might want to pick up a metal detector and hit the gold fields in Victoria. I will if I ever get back.

Yes I do. Forget the Fosters, it is good but there is better to be had. I suggest you try the Emew, both red and green labels to see which you may like the best. That is, if it is still brewed and your into a beer or two from time to time.

Seeing as Fosters seems to be everywhere overseas it is surprisingly hard to find in Australia. I have only found it twice in bottle shops in South Australia and never in a pub. There is a rumour it is the same as Crown Lager. I don't know if its true but I do know they taste quite similar to one another.

It's not that it is hard to find , It's just most Aussies don't like it much

Travelling in England a few years back we often stopped for pub lunches -excellent value. When I went to the bar to order my pint of beer, they usually sussed the accent and wanted to pour a Fosters. I always insisted on a local brew to be met with "but nearly everyone here drinks Fosters" or "don't all Australians drink Fosters?".

Found it hard to convince them that not many Aussies actually drink Fosters. I would explain where I live there are four pubs and a bottle shop and most unusual to find a Fosters -not on tap anywhere although Guinness is.
