I have a Kansas quarter that has no bronze color on the side, I am new to coin collecting and I just was wondering what it is and what it may be worth? I'm on an iPhone so I can't upload a pic right now but I will try shortly, thanks!

How did you get it?
Pretty sure the silver ones dont have any side coloring but would be very unusual to get one in circulation

Oh by the way I'm new and hope to remain active as I find new coins! Baseball, my mom must've found it in circulation one day and she thought it was cool and she gave it to me here are the images!

Thank you! This is seriously the place for me haha, I am a gas station clerk so I'm handling money all day. It's always nice when I run across a unique coin/bill

Most likely plated outside the mint. Do you have a scale you could weigh it with?

Sorry just saw you didn't have a scale. The weight would tell us a lot though.

to CCF. What you have is a plated quarter that was plated outside the mint. It is either silver plated or platinum plated. There is no added value in fact most true collectors consider these damaged coins because of being plated. Good luck with your future coin searching. John1

Glad to hear you are out there looking. And being that you see a lot of cash each day, you should get some good finds. Good luck.

This could be a wrong metal error having a silver blank somehow getting in with the blanks intended for the non proof business strikes. Weighing it would tell you if it is 90% or clad. The 90% silver blanks weigh 6.25 grams and the copper-nickel clad weigh 5.67 grams. Ed ANA LM-3175

Weighing it is a good idea but I think it is more likely to be plated than silver.
Either way, it looks like a nice coin and I would definitely keep it. You might get a nice fold over to keep it in.

Hi, Milla! I work at a gas station too and I've found two of these before (it's night and I'm in bed, or I'd drag out my shoebox and look at the mintmarks to compare . ... promise I will tomorrow). If I had my guess, they're from one of the zillion different "SPECIAL COMMEMORATIVE" sets. I have one that's colorized, too--kept it for the novelty.
