Well I just got back 3 coins from PCGS. If anyone is wondering where the grading scale is currently I would say you guess is as good as mine.

The 1921 is so far out of round it is not funny. The collar is tilted with the same tilt on both side of the collar but the collar is round on the top and bottom. The thing is more egg shaped then anything.

I wanted the coins in the clear view holders due too the type of Mint Errors they are. The grades where as follows... 1921 AU-55 PCGS.....1882 S MS-62 NGC .....1883 O MS-64 NGC

New Grades with the clear view holders
1921 S AU-58
1882 S UNC Details
1883 O MS-63

I am getting old and my eyesight is not what it once was, but from the photo I can not see any signs of "altered surface".

Too bad on the 82 as it has some nice strong features.
Good hair day :)
I think by looking at just that, the hair area (high profile)etc.
that a past polishing had occurred.
Rest in Peace

Very cool errors twohawks. I could see that 21s from across the room it's so far off. The 1882 S looks like a very clean coin as far as the cheek and the fields. Could be an old polishing kept it at MS62 from NGC. It was probably submitted by a large volume dealer or something.

I sent it into NGC and J R of ANACS saw it at the FUN show he called it a solid MS-63 but they do not have side veiw holders. PCGS is the only people that see it as a problem coin. Both NGC coins where down graded and the PCGS AU-55 went up to a AU-58. The current lesson is buy all the tri-view MS-63's and 64's now and in 3 years or so PCGS will upgraded them just like the OGH's, as the gradeding curve is back to that time frame again. I think this is just a new, old game for fee's.
