Not sure what this is struck on , more golden colour then the scans . Weighs in at 2.3 grams . Twoonie cores are this weight but I'm thinking this might be a foreign countries planchet . Not ruling out the twoonie core but the colour is not quite right . Thoughts .

Why not contact the Canadian Mint for an answer...

Note: When I mentioned that you contact the Canadian Mint, I did so as a few years back I purchased a Bank of England error note that the seller received at his local ATM and had no other choice but to contact the bank of England for answers... After purchasing this note, and knowing that it was rejected and pulled from the production run, then somehow entered the production line and received a third set of Serial Numbers... The Marks on the note are Inspectors rejection marks... Afrer contaction the Bank of England for answers, I forwarded everything to Coin World Magazine where they reported on this error... To date, this is the only known note, as I've been seeking atleast another example from this sheet from Europe and have not been able to locate another...

I have in the past contacted the mint on various things but they do not like to disclose most things . In regards to who they strike coins for , some of it is found in mint reports and articles but they explained to me once that they sometimes don't mention some countries because they strike for many countries and if two of their customers are not on good terms , they may loose a customer because they have the other one . That was paraphrasing as I can't remember exactly .

I might not be able to tell you what the intended planchet that coin was struck on, but I could tell you composition of that planchet, which could help narrow down the search. I have access to a powerful XRF instrument in my lab at work (non-destructive compositional analysis) and have zapped coins here for several CCF members (at no cost), many of whom can vouch for me.
Once you reach 50 posts, you will be able to contact me. So keep posting those error photos!!

Hi errorone2012
Nice coin...Tell me, is the left side bar of "N" in "Canada" missing...?
When I run it through SPM software, it looks as though it is missing or maybe the angle you took the picture.

SPP has zapped a coin for me using his XRF machine. He helped determine the coins metal composition for both myself and CCCS. When I sent it in for grading I forwarded a copy of his lab report to CCCS which made the whole process incredibly simple for everyone. He is super trustworthy!

The weight and colour are bang on with the twoonie core - the Mint did not struck anything like it in 95-96.
It is possible to be a twoonie core, even if the date is 1995 - the Mint struck 1995 pennies in 1996 and started to strike twoonie in 1995 - so the cores were around and available in the hoppers.
Highly desirable coin!
Please send it for XRF - I am sure the composition will be the same as the twoonie core.

Hey - no fair , I said type in the different types of errors not monarchs . I don't have an edwardian brockage or george the v . Have a couple of vicky full brockages and a george vi - then some more modern full ones .

Ty - I thought the colour was a bit off for a twoonie core but maybe it is just toned a bit .

I bet a beer in the next coin show that this is a twoonie core.
