Thanks for showing pics, I always wondered if there was a difference between a normal proof coin and a masterpieces proof coin.
Their seems to be a much more frosting in the masterpieces.
Is there an obvious difference when in your hand, or is the scanner just making them bright?

p.s
Do you need a circulated coin, because I can send one to you :)

Silver coins always look more spectacular in proof than the copper/nickle coins, there is a definite difference in the two.
Thanks for the offer AC, I have a few of the circulation coins but none worthy of adding to my album yet, the best I have would be battling to make VF

Hi Trout,
Maybe I can't help with the 20¢ coins but I can send you a superb, circulated 1988 50¢.

I really like the frosting on the proof coins.

seems kind of weird that they minted it again in 1989 but I suppose being a commemorative proof it doesn't really matter.

A great design is timeless, if any is good it will be emulated at any time.
I quite like the theme of the tall ships , as they were there for that event
