1979-D Lincoln Memorial Cent / LMC Repunched Mint Mark / RPM ?

StevenB_ New Member United States 14 Posts	Posted 07/01/2012 11:46 pm Doubtful a broken die. Possibly for the filled MM, die derioration or a progressive die chip causing the it to fill. Maybe even caused by circulation damage. The SW corner of the MM would be from a broken punch.. Report this Post to the Staff

This coin is a very normal 1979D cent. Almost ALL 1979D cents exhibit a split in the lower serif of the mintmark because of a broken mintmark punch. Please do not post that you think it is a repunched mintmark, because it is not. I can point you to a dozen respected noted experts in Lincoln cents who will ALL tell you the same thing StevenB and Maineman have already told you so please - stop arguing with them. They have given the correct answer in this thread and incorrect questioning has been posted over them. This is not the way to help anyone. Report this Post to the Staff
