Announcing the release of a new coin:
The Silver Kraken of Balon Greyjoy
Struck in 3.2 grams (1/10 troy ounce) of .999 silver At Shirepost Mint in Springdale Arkansas. Mintage 210 pieces.
New-Game-Of-Thrones-
In AC 298, after the death of King Robert Bratheon, Balon Greyjoy declares himself Lord of the Iron Islands in open defiance of the rule of King Joffrey Baratheon (cuckold of Robert by Jaime and Cersei Lannister) and issues these coins to pay his troops. On obverse is the standing image of Balon with a reaver's axe and an enormous pearl that signifies his control of sea power. On reverse is the sigil of House Greyjoy, the Kraken, the giant sea monster capable of pulling ships to the bottom and devouring their crews. The mintmark "Pyke" signifies that they were made in the smithies of the capital city of the Iron Islands. These coins first appeared publicly in the hands of Greyjoys troops, spending them in the taverns and brothels of Pyke just three days after Robert's untimely demise, suggesting that they may have been made up ahead of time, as three days seems a very quick turnaround for a coin issue!

I was going to update the mintage list above, but realized that I can no longer edit the post. Too bad! I was going to update the listing of the Iron Islands copper penny to include 360 more recently made. The first one hundred bright uncirculated ones all went to ComicCon in San Diego last week. The other 360 were all circulated by tumbling and chemical toning. They're quite nice though, with many bluish and purplish tones on the pure copper.

I am in the process of striking a new 6th pressing of the Iron Coin of the Faceless Man, for the licensed Game Of Thrones series. I just posted a couple of videos to YouTube showing the blanking and striking processed... thought some folks here might enjoy seeing that.

2:05 Striking the Iron Coin of the Faceless Man on a 150 to knuckle press.

2:05 Punching blanks for the iron coin of the Faceless Man in pure metallurgical grade iron.

The 6th pressing Faceless Man coins are scheduled for release Jan 1, 2013. The 5th pressing coins will be shipped until that time and then we'll switch over to the new one. Same price. The obverse will be exactly the same except for a secret mark that denotes die-#2. The central feature of the reverse side is the same, but the entire inscription ring has been revised to more closely correspond to the description in the novels by George R.R. Martin.

Thanks for the comments Badger! The iron coin and four of the more popular silver pieces are on ebay, fixed price sale. Just search "Game of Thrones Coin" and you'll find them. My website is at http://www.shirepost.com/wp/ and there's an online store linked from there. The store menu is on the left... All the different coins are up there in different categories. Have fun!
