The nice thing about this hobby, is that there are a multitude of ways that one can enjoy it...
One aspect that I thoroughly enjoy is looking for the many differences that do exist on our coinage, which to some equates to looking for; errors, varieties, major-errors, major-varieties, minor-errors, minor-varieties, mules etc ... and still others, refer to it as "the Hunt"...
My primary focus lies in the actual difference ... thus, I pay every attention to obtaining a nice-example of the difference and the state-of-preservation of the coin is secondary...
When I come across a difference that catches my eye ... I automatically look at coins from the preceding year and the following year, to see if the difference also exists in those years...
One example of this would be...
While looking at some 1957 5¢ bug-tails, I was rewarded with a new-to-me find ... I noticed the left maple leaf was larger than the right...
I've not found any examples of a 1956 with a large maple leaf or with a bug-tail as yet...
I have found examples of a 1958 with a large left maple leaf, but not with a bug-tail as yet...
I have come close to finding a 1957 bug-tail with a regular size left maple leaf, but not close enough to satisfy my own standards...
I have also found many other years of the 5¢ with a large maple leaf ... lefts and rights ... none of which have the bug-tail aspect so far...

Find it interesting that others often do not take a provided opportunity ... unless they are directly invited to do so...
As my example is one that came-to-pass many years ago ... I'll first need to locate the coins in my filing system for same, where every coin is filed under A, for a-coin and my filing-system-proper, consists of boxes, bags and like places to put things : )...
In answer; yes I can provide pictures ... it is just a matter of when, that I am unable to say...

It's pretty self-fulfilling, but talk about varieties with a non-collector friend and they'll say, "How the heck did you notice that tiny blip?" It's 50-50.

I see your point Libertad...
Just talking to a non-collector about collecting coins in general, raises eye-brows ... inform non-collectors that a 5¢ piece can be worth more-than face value and the responses are usually filled with astonishment...
Informed one person what I sold a certain 5¢ for and their response was ... "and you can still sleep at nights" ... I told them, like a baby : ) ...
But, I have out of curiosity handed different non-collectors a coin, told them what difference is on the coin, asked them to locate the difference and most have had no difficulties in doing so...
Most of my non-collecting friends ... simply humour me, when it comes to my hobby...

If you believe the prevailing story, hobbyists didn't notice the 1936 dot 25c until 1938. When did people notice the 1906 small crown 25c? 1929 high 9 1c? And, it seems the 1932 Far 5c was only noticed in the last few years. Point: WE miss things too.

Try telling a non-collector you paid $1,000+ for a scarce cent, nickel or dime and they'll think you need psychiatric help It's happened to me a few times, so now I don't even mention to anyone about my Hobby, only to you guys on C.C.F. who are crazy like me! Glenn

Oh, and you gotta love the people who hold onto a coin for 10+ years thinking it is valuable only to find out that it's in TERRIBLE condition and nonetheless is worth face value. I know someone who collects the 1973 mountie quarter, but I'm sure it's only for fun because they are pretty worthless - laundry money.
